The Blaze Game

The Neutron gang made impromptu plans to cheer on our local arena football team, the Utah Blaze, at the opening game against the Spokane Shock. Sitting in the bleachers like regular folk, they happily gorged themselves on delicious kettle corn and stadium hotdogs while cheering for the complete annihilation of the opposing team. Unfortunately, the Blaze lost 68-34, but that didn’t stop the good people of Neutron Interactive from having a great time.

Even though the Blaze lost it should be noted that we got to see the half-time extravaganza by Utah’s own David Archuleta, whose sweet croons left us inspired in ways we never thought possible. The game loss, however, was probably due to the fact that when team Blaze looked up at the VIP seating and didn’t see us cheering them on, they became despondent and gave up. We’ll have to remember to send them a memo next time we decide to sit in the front row.

iNeutron

Every month, one of the members of our design team works to create the monthly Neutron wallpaper.  This month’s piece was created by our very own web developer Zach ‘Zacho’ Holmquist, with help from graphic designer Scott Jensen, and marketing manager Dal Price.

Zacho thought up the Neutron wallpaper idea while he was driving home from work. “A lot of my ideas come from when I’m driving. I had also been reading a lot of Apple News and since the Apple iPad was on its way out, I wanted to incorporate that into the logo.”

Using his love for Apple products, Zacho integrated the paint splashes and collaborated with Dal and Scott for the coloring and vectoring. “There was an iPod Nano commercial that came out a few years ago and they stuck with the theme of paint splashes and bright colors for their ads. That’s where that came from. I had the idea, but I wasn’t exactly sure about how to execute it, so Dal and Scott helped me out.”  The end result is the simple but creative wallpaper you see here.

A job well done from Neutron’s web development & design team!

Neutron Breaks the Ice

With the Utah Grizzlies hockey team in full force, Neutron Interactive could not miss out on the excitement.  Employees had the opportunity to build team unity by playing each other in an exhilarating game of hockey.  Each employee was given a Grizzlies jersey to wear while they battled it out on the ice.

The group split into two teams and played a best 3 out of 5 mini-tournament. Afterward, everyone relaxed in the VIP box seats eating a delicious spread while watching the Grizzlies take home another victory. Between hockey, food, and hanging out it was hard to find an dissatisfied Neutron employee that night.

Picture Perfect at Neutron

Neutron Interactive hosted an in-house photo contest last month.  All employees were given the opportunity to submit their own photography.  The stipulations were lax.  Photos could be taken of any subject as long as they could be formatted in black and white, 8×10’’ prints.

Once all of the pictures were anonymously submitted, we were each able to vote for our top favorites.  I think we were all pleasantly surprised to see the artistic abilities of our fellow Neutronians.  The top nine favorites were all selected, printed, and placed in our office as part of wall décor.  Here are the results!

Help for Haiti

The catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti this month left the country in desolation.  In fact, the American Red Cross estimated that about three million people were affected by the quake.  There has been a worldwide response to this devastating quake, with organizations, religious groups, companies, and people giving humanitarian aid.  This aid has come in various forms, including funds, medical teams, support personnel, and other needed supplies.

Haiti, an already poverty stricken nation, needs your help.  Even though there has been an outpouring of aid and support, Haiti has a long way to go.  There is still a need for funds to help clean up the debris and repair the damage. Your contribution, no matter how much or how little, will impact the Haitian people more than you know. Please join us as we donate to the cause, and help a country stricken by a very unfortunate circumstance.

Red October Wallpaper

As a result of a lack of focus and too much creative juice, some of our employees have taken to creating Neutron Interactive Wallpapers. We liked them so much, we thought we’d start sharing them!
